Check out the brand new video from our friend Doom Man! Doom is set to release his summer smash hit Don’t Talk To Me (DTTM), in August 2010 from his own label Onslaught Recordings. Produced by Chicago’s Yo Nurican, the already popular backing track Boriken Soul combined with Doom’s dark but melodic vocals make Don’t Talk To Me a monster.
Reggae, soul, funk, jazz and the Motown classics were just some of the sounds to be heard in the family home of Doom Man during childhood. Doom Man soon developed his own personal tastes and through the years his collection has grown to include the likes of Wu Tang Clan, A Tribe Called Quest, and artists closer to home, such as; Wookie, Roni Size, Ms Dynamite, The Streets, Coldplay and The Prodigy. Doom Mans’ diverse and open minded approach to music has contributed greatly to his unique and inspiring style.
During the mid 90’s Doom Man begun writing his own lyrics and gained valuable experience and confidence with a ‘crew’ called ‘The Dungeoneers’. The dispersal of the crew within the year 2000, gave Doom Man the drive and ambition to work alongside his brother, Punisha, and create their own dynamic outlet; ’Da Marvel’. It was at this stage that recognition of their music became more apparent. Weekly slots on ‘Major FM’ and gigs throughout the UK increased the fan base and the reputation of Doom Man.
2004 brought a unique break for Doom Man as he was signed to the independent label ‘No Apologies’. The creation of the mixtape ‘Until That Day’ tested the water in the new venture and proved to be a fantastic success. The track ‘Celebrate Life’ was given air play on numerous radio stations and played in clubs across the UK. Further tracks created with ‘No Apologies’ found their own successes in various mediums including that of the computer game by Konami: ‘Crime Wars: Gang Life’ which features four of Doom Mans creations. The game, aimed at a young audience, gave a positive message and highlighted the dangers of gang culture which is increasingly relevant in today’s society and increasingly relevant in Doom Mans lyrics.
In 2008, Doom Man is concentrating on his personal growth and independence away from the No Apologies label. The experience and knowledge Doom Man has gained from his varying paths have given him a new lease of positivity and energy and a new vision to create inspirational, meaningful and relevant music. Working with some of the most admired and influential people from the ‘urban’ scene; Doom Man has created a great sea of encouragement, talent and influence around him. From the likes of Wookie (Soul II Soul), Howie B (U2, Bjork), Dean Tidey (Feeder, Sandstone Veterans), Kendra Ross (Talib Kwali) and Sweetie Irie (Roni Size, Ed Case & Gorillaz), to performing with the likes of Groove Armada and Milo in front of over 20’000 people at the ‘Lovebox Weekender’.
Doom-man is planning to release his debut album Doom’s Day. Starting with the monstrous single ‘What Does It Say About You?’ Produced by Dr Meaker. It is now a matter of listening to see what Doom-man is about to unleash!
