Natty

Natty is no stranger to any kind of scene or to any kind of skill when it comes to music… Having started his career at the tender age of 11, looping samples on a tape deck to make instrumentals to rap over, Natty has firmly established himself as one to watch.

At 22 Natty set up Defcon Records with business partner and friend, Dwella. Signing artists such as Dark Circle, Mr Thing (extended players) , Manage (speakers corner) and First Rate (scratch perverts) – who are all considered to be pioneers in the respective genres.

Since then he has fronted live hip-hop alternative band Sweettoof – which won Radio 1’s first Unsigned Act of the Year in 2003… he has hosted DJ gigs with the likes of Shortee Blitz, Mr Thing, Matt Jam Lamont, Norman Jay

In fact – Natty has performed at every venue imaginable – from Glastonbury to the The Jazz Café – from London to Moscow! He now fronts up and coming trip hop, hip hop, dub, reggae band Kaya which are one to watch for 2008 – they have already supported the Sugababes and Ne-yo at Berlin Fashion Week and are set for big things!!

Natty is now in the studio recording his second solo album “The 33 Faces” which will released next year.

On top of all of this Natty is also an established DJ – having got himself a job cleaning horse Sh*t – literally – at the age of 15 to buy himself his first set of decks – mixing up RnB, Hip Hop and Drum and Bass at clubs such as Bagleys, Limelights, SE8 Club.. the list goes on…This led onto a stint on pirate radio Station Shocking FM playing out drum’n’bass and jungle.

Natty

One thing very important to Natty is paving the way for the next generation – he can often be found of an afternoon on the back of a truck with a portable studio going round teaching local kids how to MC, sing, write and record… this has now got support from some of London’s Borough Councils to develop it as a workshop scheme. So while he makes the future brighter for those growing up around him – you can rest assured that the future is also bright for Natty himself. The evidence speaks for itself.
