RuBy is an exciting and vibrant new artist whose work fuses mainstream Pop, RnB and Soul with a suggestion of Grime!
In summer 2007 RuBy was invited to write a song for Jennifer Lopez by producer Johnny Douglas. Johnny and RuBy have planned further collaborations for the future. Another artist RuBy currently works with is Clive McKinley, contributing tracks for his forthcoming album.
RuBy has quickly made a name for herself as both a highly creative and original songwriter and vocalist of subtle power and unparralled emotional range. RuBy is currently recording her album with contributions from Mikis Michealides (Doc Brown,Finley Quaye, N.E.R.D) and Timothy Mane (2VC, Clencha, A-Team) as well as Nocturnal, Mos Wanted, Bless Beats and UBOY. She was recently asked to guest on a track with Dynamite Mc (Roni Size, Kiss Fm) ‘It’s The Weekend’ the video will be on MTV BASE this summer.
RuBy’s tracks ‘Catch My Breath’, ‘Heartbeart’ and ‘Picture That Please’, ‘3Wishes’ and ‘Next’ have enjoyed recent airplay on Kiss Fm, Freeze Fm and Rinse Fm. Whilst Richard Blackwood has played ‘Your My Everything’ on his Sunday show on Choice Fm. She also has collaborations on forthcoming tracks with Tinie Temper, Frisco and Black the Ripper on ‘Whats In Your Handbag’ and with Little Dee on ‘Your Light’.
RuBy’s song ‘Your Saved’ was up for digital download from the homegrown podcast on 1xtra (Target) which was very well received and plans to release this as a single soon. RuBy also features on ‘Problems On My Own’ with Tinchy Stryder which was on the 1xtra playlist.
Ruby has new solo and collaborative projects for 2010- First up is ‘Catch My Breath’ with 1Xtra’s Illmana. The track has big support for Mistajam (Radio 1/ 1Xtra), Scratcha (Rinse FM) and Cameo (1Xtra).
