DJ Limelight presents a weekly radio show on BBC Asian Network every Saturday 11pm-1am called Mic Check. Based on the UK Urban scene, DJ Limelight has helped promote and build artist careers from early on in their careers to now becoming household names. The Mic Check show presented by DJ Limelight & Kandman runs through a series of genres including UK Funky/House, Grime, Rap, Dubstep and RnB. The show pumps through energy on a Saturday night and promotes the Underground Street music and culture through a funny, spontaneous, fun felt show. In 2009, Mic Check Show received a massive Sony Bronze Award for Best Specialist Radio Show, losing out to the legendary David Rodigan. DJ Limelight & Kandman were the youngest Presenters to have gained an award from the Sony Awards history. As a massive recognition, it was also made clear that the hard hitting, yet very humorous radio show had done and continues to champion up and coming Urban talent in the UK.
With over 100,000 copies sold, DJ Limelights mixtapes have featured the cream of the crop from the UK with top Artists hosting CDs such as Chipmunk, Giggs, Ghetto, N Dubz & Double S to name a few. CD titles include Hype On Da Mic (Vol.1-3), Addicted To The Hustle and Grime Theft Auto (Vol.1-3). In early 2010 DJ Limelight was the winner of Best DJ at the Official Mixtape Awards.
DJ Limelight’s passion for music and the night life, creates the hype, exciting party atmosphere for any club in the world to enjoy. Having played at some of the biggest clubs in the UK such as Sound Nightclub, Penthouse, Stanza, Rainforest to name a few, DJ Limelight has also featured at the world famous Ministry Of Sound Nightclub in London on several occasions. Nights have included University fresher parties for Kings College, UCL, Hertfordshire, Oxford, Cambridge and City University. Other club nights have included Desi Nights, Milkshake nights at Ministry as well as Roadshow/Mela tours with the BBC Asian Network in Manchester, Birmingham, Leicester, Coventry, Southampton and Nottingham to name a few. DJ Limelights passion reflects in his musical journey taking the crowd through a trip down memory lane, without losing the exclusiveness of the latest tracks which are hot at the minute.The journey goes through many genres including Hip Hop, RnB, UK Funky House, Dance, House, Bhangra and Club Floor Fillers.
DJ Limelight has built his work and craft in a short space of time and now has a force in the UK industry promoting up and coming talent on his radio show, mixtapes and youtube channel.
